FB Update: Enkei, Part 2

Enkei Top Secret Rays Volk

Last year when this happened we were surprised by it.

Top Secret after a very long and close affiliation with Rays/Volk split ways and are now with Enkei.  It went unnoticed for a while it seems.  Now with Enkei’s latest advertisements I think it’ll become more public knowledge that Top Secret has split from Volk.  We’re still not really sure how to feel about this…

Customer Car: Miles’ GT-R

Posted by

Miles has a great race prepped GT-R over in Australia.

Loads of great mods were done. On this car we made Miles an authentic Amuse front diffuser converted to carbon fiber as a one-off.

The car also sports the Top Secret hood, Aeromotions wing, full custom cage, dry carbon doors and loads of other mods.

Doesn’t get much lower than that!  The front lip is practically scraping that iPhone.

This GT-R glows like an angel.  Must be the car of Miles’ dreams!

Photoshop – FT-86 Top Secret Styled

Posted by

top_secret_toyota_ft_86_by_bramdc-d31iinx

Today I was shown this really cool photoshop and I wanted to share it. As the hype builds for the upcoming Toyota FT-86 people are beginning to fantasize about the tuning possibilities of the potent FR sports car.

This design was created by BramDC from Wergea, Netherlands. In this rendering we can see lots of styling adapted nicely from other great tuner cars. Some of the things that I notice at first glance are components that include: Ridox 80 Supra/Amuse Superleggera Z type carbon fender/side skirt panel, Voltex Type-3 wing, Craftquare mirrors, Advan RG wheels, and a front bumper that looks like if a Vestito bumper, and Ings+1 N-Spec bumper and a Top Secret bumper all merged into one.

What do you guys on the blog and facebook think of it?

Customer Car: Heavily Modded Do Luck Widebody Evo 9

Posted by

Bulletproof Evo 9 Customer Car Do Luck Widebody

This car is easily one of my favorite customer Evo’s ever. The car is extensively modified and features a very rare set of wheels and aero to set it off. The 18×10.5+15 GT-R face Volk TE37 wheels are Top Secret limited models. Every exterior piece of the car has been modified from Do Luck with the exception of the hood which is a C-West piece. I particularly love the widebody elements of the Do Luck kit, the rear fenders in particular are pure perfection on this Evo.

It was great to see this car show up to our The Real JDM meet up we held late last year. The car is simply perfect looking in person. Although I’m certainly a fan of the pictures too. The picture below is my current desktop background. I’ve formatted the pictures all in hi-res so they’ll make fitting desktops if you happen to like the car as much as I do!

Customer Car: Eric’s Top Secret Gold GDB Impreza STi

Posted by

erics_impreza top secret gold bulletproof automotive varis

Here’s a little blast from the past to give a little insight into what we were up to 6 years ago (back in 2005). I often like to look back at cars that I’ve had a hand in creating and to see how they stand up over time. It is my primary goal with all of my creative involvement in all projects to help create something as timeless as possible, so this reflection back is important in my study of what works and what does not.  (To see what I would change 6 years later, see the bottom of the post.)

This STi was owned by a great and passionate Impreza owner named Eric. What we helped him create ended up being one of our first magazine covers and one of our first complete looking demo cars. The results made me so proud that I sent a copy of the magazine to my mom!

We were fortunate with the fact that Eric had big dreams and came to us for our involvement with the desire and means to allow us to get it done. At the time we were promoting specific brands aggressively that we believed in and you can tell our involvement with representing Top Secret and Varis when looking at this car. The car sports authentic Top Secret gold paint on top of what was at the time the full Varis catalog of aero parts (in 2005 we were already Top Secret USA and we had recently begun being Varis USA).

Back then as well as now, I loved every angle of the car except the rear. In my opinion the rear looked incomplete with the Varis carbon trunk but no wing or diffuser. Also of course I always wanted to see an Amuse exhaust on there to finish it off. Although we did not have the wing on in time for the magazine shoot, you can see in the picture above my good friend and past Bulletproof comrade Roo testing out the look of an Ings+1 wing. I had this seemingly crazy idea at the time to make an Ings+1 Z-Power low mount wing for a 350Z fit the Impreza (it was my favorite wing of the time).

The car ultimately was sold from Eric to a new owner shortly after the completion of it and the magazine cover feature. At the time of the magazine shoot the motor was putting out 520 HP to the wheels! The car also had full carbon fiber interior conversion and limited edition JDM Recaro Tomcat seats.

If I could do it again today I’d change:

+20mm one-off blister front fenders

more aggressive and concave offset wheels in 18″ (The car already had these wheels when it came to me)

Varis Euro wing

Top Secret R34 rear diffuser with kevlar vortex generators

Amuse exhaust (I never had a say in the exhaust in the car or I would have suggested Amuse back then)

Keys steering wheel (I had nothing to do with the wheel in this car or I would have suggested Keys or Top Secret back then)

different graphics

Craftsquare mirrors

I still love everything else just like I did back then.
