Customer Car – Bobby Taylor’s GT1 S2000 (Revisited)

Bobby S2000 GT1 Amuse

Bobby and I got this project rolling back six years ago when he dropped by our old Gardena, CA warehouse ready to do something big. Despite the years since then somehow this car has remained under the radar of the media…until now. Super Street Magazine just last month recognized what an incredible job Bobby did with his S2000 and wrote up a feature article on his car! Congrats Bobby! It is well deserved!

I really love cars that 6 years later not only still look timeless but are still so fresh that they’re magazine feature cars. In a world where most cars are trendy and the styling is played out 2 years later, this car is proof that a car can be built the right way and remain timeless!

The Search For The Only SARD MC8 GT1 Street Car

Posted by

SARD MC8 MR-2

Where did she go? I wonder if the power of the internet will help us find her.

First lets start with who she is. This car is one of the most rare and unique artifacts of JDM tuning. It is a GT1 car produced by SARD in 1995 as a street homologation model. For the MC8 race car there was only one street version ever made and it’s whereabouts are unknown. I’d put this as one of the most rare and unique street cars ever to come out of the Japanese tuning world and I’m fascinated to know what ever happened to it!

The car is built off of a SW20 MR-2 chassis that has been elongated and powered by a 1UZ-FE which was twin turbo’d to put out 600hp. The car has that perfect mid ’90’s JDM race car vibe to it. It’s not terribly pretty by modern and/or mainstream standards, but the hardcore golden era JDM style it masters makes up for it’s somewhat unusual looks.

The race version of the cars ran 24 hours of Le Mans in 1995,1996 and 1997 as well as the FIA GT Championship and a few other races before retiring.

This sketch comes from Kevin. Kevin emailed me and wanted to share with Amuse and I his sketch. I thought it was worthy of a post because it’s pretty cool.

Customer Car – Amuse GT1 S2000

Posted by

I love being Amuse’s distributor. Sure I use their parts on my car, but I’m also so proud of our customer cars which use Amuse parts because its one of those brands that you know will always turn out great on whatever car you put it on and it always blows people away. I often think that my happiest clients are those that bought Amuse parts from me. Its something most just wont understand until the time comes that they get to experience it themselves. (disclaimer – I’ve had 4 different Amuse exhausts on my car, their hood, part of their widebody, their suspension, their header, well…pretty much everything at one point or another)

This customer car is owned by Bobby, one of my favorite customers to talk with. He’s such a nice guy and a real enthusiast. He worked hard and saved hard to get the absolute best for his S2000 and you can tell just looking at it. We got him the Amuse GT1 widebody kit, the Amuse spec CE28N Volks, the craftsquare mirrors, a supercharger kit for some reliable big HP and some other goodies. I think you’ll agree that this car is worthy of a blog post, even if it isnt magazine prettied up with flashy colors. This is what a daily driven street car should look like.

Everyone always starts with the front of the car. I dont care, I like this rear photo better.

I remember when Bobby bought the kit, he asked if he’d get an Amuse sticker. The answer was yes. Its only a sticker, but he’s really proud to rock that sticker and wouldn’t you be too if you had an Amuse GT1 S2000?

Bobby – Hit me up about some clear corner diffusers for those headlights! I got ’em here! PLEASE…thats the last step to perfection.
